What Health and Disability workplaces are suitable for Gateway?
Careerforce has been working with workplaces to embed learning and development which includes setting up a verifier programme and training a workplace assessor.
Using workplaces which have embedded learning and development systems means the School and Careerforce can have confidence that the provider is able to adequately support and assess the student.
For information on workplaces in your area who are part of the embedding programme contact Careerforce on 0800 277 486 or donovanr@cssito.org.nz
What happens once an interested workplace is identified?
A three way Memorandum of Understanding setting out each parties obligations will be signed by the School, the workplace and Careerforce (CSSITO Ltd). The School Gateway coordinator will send the completed MoU to Careerforce.
Once the MoU is complete the School Coordinator can order workbooks and assessments from Careerforce for each unit standard the student wishes to undertake.
Will there be any costs?
Careerforce will charge the school $35 including GST for each unit standard undertaken. This includes the cost of the workbook and assessment portfolios, and the cost of Careerforce registering credits with NZQA.
Schools may also be charged an assessment fee by the workplace. The nature and size of such a fee should be agreed upon between the school and the workplace prior to any placement.
What if a student is already placed with a workplace that does not have a registered Careerforce Workplace Assessor?
While the student is able to gain work experience, s/he is not able to obtain the unit standards until assessment can take place.
If you have placed a student with a workplace which does not have a registered Careerforce Workplace Assessor please contact Careerforce on 0800 277 486 or donovanr@cssito.org.nz immediately.
