Fees

The cost of industry training is supported by the Government through the Industry Training Fund. Careerforce Workplace Advisors can provide the costs for each national qualification, so that the employer and trainee know exactly what costs are involved to complete the qualification they are undertaking. The cost of the qualification may be met by an employer, employee or funder or a combination of these.

Results and Graduation

Trainees are assessed in the workplace through various formal and informal assessments. They are fully involved during the whole process and receive feedback from the assessor/verifier whether they have reached the required level of competency. If the trainee is not yet competent, they need to gain further training and be given a timeframe for when the reassessment will occur.

The assessor signs off when each unit standard is complete and forwards the information to Careerforce where the unit is registered with NZQA. When a qualification has been completed a National Certificate is sent to the trainee. Many providers use this as an opportunity for organisational celebrations with a formal graduation ceremony to congratulate the achievement of their employees.

Training agreement and resources

Careerforce has developed (and continues to develop) a range of resource materials to support workplace based training and assessment. The materials include assessment guides, workbooks, embedding qualifications guide, assessor training. CD ROM formats will also become available for some unit standards.

Trainees and their employer sign a training agreement with Careerforce which formally links them to achieving a national qualification. Depending on the national qualification each trainee receives the support resources available and can then begin training and assessment in the workplace.
